Will March be Tagle’s best month yet?-A A +A
Sunday, March 10, 2013
IMPORTANT events in the priesthood of Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle happened in October but that will change if he will be chosen as successor to retired Pope Benedict XVI.
“Now that this historic moment for the Church is taking place this March and not October, will history not repeat itself for Tagle?” asked CBCP News, the official media outlet of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) on Sunday.
Tagle is the lone Filipino cardinal that will participate in the conclave beginning on Tuesday at the Vatican, where all 115 cardinal-electors are considered “papabile” or papal contenders.
Back in October 17, 2001, Tagle received confirmation that he will be appointed as bishop of the Diocese of Imus in Cavite.
Ten years later on October 7, 2011, Tagle was told that he will become the Archbishop of Manila. Benedict formally announced his appointment on October 13, 2011.
While in Rome for the Synod of Bishops on New Evangelization in October 23 last year, he was informed that he will be named as cardinal the following day. (HDT/Sunnex)
