Loreto in tune up fight before next defense-A A +A

INTERNATIONAL Boxing Organization light flyweight champion Rey Loreto is set to battle former world champion Nkosinathi Joyi in their rematch on December 13.
The rematch will come 10 months later after the Davaoeno stopped the African champion in three rounds to wrest the vacant IBO crown.
But prior to the rematch, Loreto will be up for a tune up match later this month in Davao as part of his preparation for the upcoming world title bout set in East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa.
Although his opponent will still be announced later this week, Loreto said he will try to do his best to win the contest despite being a tune up game.
"Sana suportahan ako ng aking mga kababayan. Gusto ko kasing magpakita ng magandang laban sa harap ng aking mga kababayan," Loreto said.
But trainer and boxing coach Joven Jorda said they will not take any opponent of Loreto lightly.
"Kahit na tune up lang we don't want to take chances kasi boxing yan. Baka matsambahan pa niya kame mahirap na," said Jorda adding a Japanese would be the probable opponent for the defending champion.
Jorda said, initially, two Thai fighter where being lined up as tune – up match for Loreto but both fighters were unavailable this coming September.
Instead, Jorda said they have opted to push through with the tune-up fight with the opponent to be announced later.
The 23-year-old journeyman now calls the Highland Boxing gym his home in La Trinidad for the past four years however won’t mind going out of the country to defend the crown he won in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
The southpaw with a record of 18 wins and 13 loss including 10 knock outs won the vacant IBO 108lbs crown after scoring a sensational knock out against former WBC International light flyweight title holder Joyi in the 3rd round.
