Lakay fighter released from UFC

AFTER a not so impressive performance in his debut, Dave Galera was recently shown the exit in the Ultimate Fighting Championship last month.

Galera was handed the pink slip together with Colton Smith, Pat Healy, Estevan Payan and Chris Indich.

In the world’s premier mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion.


The 35 – year – old Team Lakay fighter however is looking on the positive side of things despite not being renewed by UFC.

“There’s nothing to worry about because I know its business and there will still be other MMA promotions who will sign me up,” Galera said.

Galera was previously undefeated in his first five fighter where he also snatched the Philippine-based organization Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) interim bantamweight title with a technical knockout victory over Reydon Romero at URCC 23: Unrivaled in April 2013.

The fighter nicknamed as “The Scarecrow” whose title-winning performance and five-fight winning streak in URCC served as his stepping stone to be noticed by the UFC.

Considered as one of the promising Team Lakay fighter made his first Octagon appearance this past January at UFC Fight Night 34 in Singapore but yielded to hometown favorite Royston Wee via unanimous decision.

It was Galera’s last fight and it was later learned the US born fighter is putting his prizefighting career on hold due to personal reasons.
