BARANGAY QM brushed down debuting Mines View Good Shepherd squad in a lopsided victory in the ongoing elimination round of the 5th Samahang Barangay Pangkalikasan-Lawana Cup 2014 Invitational Basketball Tournament.

Hamed Alshati, Agustin Madriaga, and Jasper Salaping led QM with a one sided 80-56 victory at the Military Cut-off Barangay covered court.

The trio led the offense for QM Quarry Reds with an early 9-0 run in the first five minutes of the ballgame and never looked back since as Mines View remained luckless all throughout the ballgame shooting only 30 percent.

Alshati, Madriaga, together with shooting guard Jobert Bondok combined a total of 24 points to close the first half with a 15-point edge, 32-17.

MV Good Shepherds’ Ramil Clemente and Derrick Tovera managed to rally an 11-point run in the third canto but was turned down by QM as Alshati and Madriaga erected a 50-34 lead before closing the quarter at 58-38.

Mines View tried to bounce back from a deep deficit in the pay-off but the Quarry Reds was hot on the trigger as Salaping and Daniel Latawan Jr. delivered the finishing touches putting their opponents into basketball clinic.

“This is a good day for winning another game, we knew we can beat the other team and we just carried on with our goal for today,” said QM coach Ivan Badecao.

“We need to carry this momentum sa next na laro. As long as we manage to stop our opponents lead scorers every game, I guess we can pull ourselves to advance in the quarter finals,” Badecao added.

Alshati finished with a double-double figure scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds, Salaping capped the ballgame with 14 points, Madriaga added 11, while Latawan finished with 10.

Clemente and Tovera lead Mines View finishing with 21 points each, while Lee Consi generated 11.
