"THERE is no better time than now," someone once said.

And for Baguio, with its great climate, it is conducive for residency, a known educational capital in the North and being a sports haven, there is no better time than now to finally venture into strengthening tourism, one of the economic strongholds of the city.

Although the tourism industry in the City of Pines continues to thrive, Mayor Mauricio Domogan has finally made a stand for our exceptional athletes to have world class facilities.

In many occasions, from regional, national and international exposures, our local athletes have brought home honor after honor making Baguio of the most sought after and one of the top teams to beat wherever competition they set out on.

Year after year, our athletes from the elementary, high school and college, even out of school youths, never fail to wow the Baguio community with their exceptional performances and achievements even with trainings done with limited resources and remedied facilities and equipment.

Now that an initial budget is being prioritized for the improvement of the city’s largest sports facility the Baguio Athletic Bowl, hope intensifies for the future of local sports and its athletes. This is a timely undertaking that will not only amplify our athletes’ performances in competitions and will also magnify sports tourism through hosting of regional, national and international sports competitions.

This will give a chance for personalities to witness and realize the potential of Baguio City as a place for sports events. In many occasions Baguio City has been the choice of many famous sports celebrities either for their training due to its high altitude or for a vacation, a place to relax before their scheduled event, and of course for annual sports seminars
The “People’s Champ” Manny Pacquiao and PBA teams are regular visitors of the City and so with the improvement of our facilities we will finally have a place to cater to big sports events, we will surely revolutionize sports tourism economy.

It is like a dream coming true. Many believe that starting it is the hardest part, but with the initial budget in place soon there will be a place to train even during the rainy days. Soon we could hold events in a venue which every Baguio sports enthusiast could be proud of.
