BAGUIO City archers raised the banner high as they brought home the overall crown in the recently concluded Benel Indoor Archery Tournament held in Mandaluyong City, July 5.

With their skillful marksmanship, young archers from the Summer Capital almost swept the competition putting in tow four gold, four silver, and one bronze medal from the competition.

Bowmen Daniel Jasmin Espiritu (UB-LES) and Princess Justine Mae Talimio of UB Preparatory High School split the 10-meter distance for the first and second honors respectively.

Hongitan sisters Jezreel Mitzi and Kareel Meer of UB shared the gold and silver in the junior women’s 18-meter distance.

Meanwhile, James Quilal-lan from the University of the Cordilleras together with UB Cardinals Jayson Mendoza and Janus Ventura cornered the top three spots respectively in the junior men’s 18-meter contest.
Archery coach Franklin Espiritu said the organizers of the competition, backed by Benel Archery Club, was pleased to see the Baguio team in great performance during the single day tournament.

“We are happy and the organizers of the tournament are happy at the same time impressed with our team’s performance during the event,” Espiritu said.

“We were highly rated as the top competitors after the awarding ceremonies and they look forward into inviting us more often in future competitions,” Espiritu added.
