DAGSIAN United started strong and finished stronger to rout Scout Barrio, 81-61, in the on-going eliminations of the 5th Samahang Barangay Pangkalikasan Invitational Basketball Tournament.

Nardson Damaso rallied an 11-0 run in the first quarter as Dagsian never looked back during Sunday’s ballgame at the South Sanitary Camp Covered Court.

Damaso was unstoppable in the offense firing eight out of nine field goals for a 17 points output and edge Scout Barrio, 24-10, at the close of the first period.

But Scout Barrio put one good fight in the second quarter as Kev Ramos, Rye Lacanlale, and Jeff Macadaig trimmed the gap by just one, 30-29 going into the halftime break.

Dagsian regained control in the third canto as Johnson Carlos, together with Carlo Muñoz and Flynn Dao-wan hacked 26 combined points for a fresh eleven-point edge, 59-48, going into the fourth period.

Scout Barrio tried to bounce in the first few minutes of the pay-off period narrowing the lead at 65-57 behind Ramos and Jun Dulay’s eight point raid but was doused with cold water as Carlos, Shaun Dao-wan, and Louie Dumo assaulted the basket with another combined 17 points to pull away in the ball game.

“We are happy with the opening performance this season and hopefully we can overdo this ballgame in the following contests,” Dagsian coach Eggy Laos said.

“Maganda lang talaga ang naging umpisa, akalain mo yun lahat ng bitiwan na basket in the first quarter pumapasok. I give the credit sa mga scorers namin today” Laos added.

Carlos finished with a double-double dropping 17 points and 19 rebounds, Flynn similarly finished with 17 including four triples, while Dumo and Muñoz added 11 and nine points each.

Macadaig fielded 22 points for Scout Barrio including four-for-four three pointers in the third canto, while Dulay and Ramos had 10 points each.
