GOLDEN Pine Hotel got back to their winning ways after routing Dagsian United, 88-60, in bracket C of the on-going eliminations of the 2nd Budz Cup Invitational Basketball Tournament.

Fresh from a sorry loss the last time, Golden Pine cruised to a lopsided victory at the Easter College gym Sunday evening.

All five starters for the hoteliers earned a double-digit output led by veteran center Dave Stapely finishing with 17 points and eight rebounds.

The hoteliers jumped to a hot start in the opening canto as former UB Cardinal Alvin Alindoza, Jesse Tomlen, and Stapely combined to erect a 25-9 advantage.

GPH’s twin towers Stapely and Tomlen controlled the rebounding in the second period and pulled another combined 11 points inside the shaded lane for a commanding 45-29 lead at the half.

Dagsian remained silent in their offensive attempts as GPH continues its rampage in the third period courtesy of Noel Balionga dropping 11 points on a three-for-four shooting from the three-point line before shooting guard Lye Singalaoa added another eight points to close the quarter at 74-41.

Shawn Dao-wan and Eggy Laos managed to find rhythm in their offense in the pay-off period chipping in 13 markers but it was a little too late as GPH took their opponents into basketball clinic with Vic Manalili coming in from the bench and serving four-of-six of his three-pointers that sealed the win for his team.

“Talagang gusto naming bumawi from our previous loss, kulang kami that time so today halos lahat gustong makapuntos,” said GPH playing coach Balionga after the game.

“Ayaw na naming dagdagan ang losing streak ng team kaya definitely we will work harder come the semis and the finals,” Balionga added.

Manalili finished with 16 points while Tomlen had 15 as Balionga came away with 14. Alindoza and Singalaoa each closed out with 10 points.

Louie Dumo led Dagsian with 12 points, Johnson Carlos added 10, while Carlo Muñoz and Dao-wan each fielded eight points.
