SERGEROSS cruised to an easy outing after a lopsided victory over defending champions Dagsian United in bracket C of the ongoing eliminations of the 2nd Budz Cup Invitational Basketball Tournament.

Riding towards its third win for the season, Sergeross stunned the Dagsian, 79-61, at Easter College gym Sunday evening.

Sergeross shooting guards Rey Bilibli and Kier Gonzaga fired 21 points apiece while forward Jun Bacani chipped in 13 markers to finish the hapless Dagsian.

Bilibli, a former University of Baguio Cardinal, fueled a seven point run in the first Dagsian center Johnson Carlos tried to carry the team with his 10 point outburst in the second but Sergeross guard Gonzaga and Russel Yacat kept their opponents at bay to enjoy a 43 – 30 lead at halftime.

The lead kept filling in the third canto as Bilibli returned inside the hard court dropping 12 points including three from behind the three-point line leaving a hapless Dagsian, 58-36, with 5:50 remaining in the period.

Siblings Shaun and Flynn Dao-wan tried to step their game offensively carving eight more points but the momentum went pale as Dagsian dropped far behind, 68-45.

Carlos, who led his team with double-double figures of 16 points and 11 rebounds tried to stage a comeback early in the pay-off canto but was worn out by the fast break plays of Bacani and Efren Mariano who had a field day at the three point territory on a 4 for 4 shooting.

“We were just converting points and nothing more. We thought that it would be a close game tonight but when we got into the channel of scoring we went straight for the kill,” said Sergeross playing coach Mariano.

“Everyone was doing their part inside the court, the defenders challenged every shot and the scorers delivered what you expect them to do, and that was to score,” Mariano added.

Flynn capped out with 10 points together with ill-fated teammate Louie Dumo, who shot less than half of his attempts with only nine points.
