HUNDREDS of basketball and sports enthusiasts alike are expected to gather as the Young Men’s Christian Association-Baguio in partnership with the Best Center Sports Inc. holds a three-day basketball referees clinic slated July 7-9.

Backed by the National Amateur Basketball Referee’s Organization (Nabro) and the Department of Education-Division of Baguio, the seminar aims to renew basketball rules information to participants to be at the YMCA gymnasium.

Nabro-Baguio coordinator Edwin Edades said the clinic intends to reintroduce new basketball rules as set in the 2014 International Basketball Federation or FIBA (Fédération Internationale de Basket-ball) guidelines.

“The program will be a refresher course for our local referees in line with some changes in the new set of guidelines implemented inside the hard-court,” Edades said.

A minimal amount of P550 will be collected to cover for certificate, snacks, honorarium for resource speakers, and hand-out materials.

The clinic will be divided into two parts, lecture and practical training, to be facilitated by National Clinicians from NABRO head office, headed by national president Rolando Omampo.

Edades mentioned aside from accepting current referees to renew their familiarity with basketball, NABRO will also welcome other interested locals to be part of the sports clinic.

“This is also an open invitation sa lahat ng mga iba pang interested na matutuo, so with the organizers of the seminar we are working to educate more people lalo na dito sa locality natin,” Edades said.

The event sees participants not limited to referees but including local basketball enthusiasts, coaches, and Physical Education teachers.

Interested participants may get their registration forms at the YMCA of Baguio located at Post office Loop, Upper Session Road or call or text Edwin Edades at (0917) 862-6901.
