BLESSED with almost perfect body proportion, Kapangan born Cesar Lukines of Benguet Fitness Center carved his way to a decent second place finish in the Mr. California State 2014 National Physique Committee Qualifiers May 24.

Lukines bested other entries coming from around the globe in the men's middleweight (72-80 kgs) division.

"I am very proud to be among the top finishers in my division, not to mention that I am the only Cordilleran in the event," Lukines said.

With the feat, Lukines will advance in the upcoming International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness competition to be held this November on Miami, Florida.

The 35-year-old bodybuilder’s four months of hard work paid him great dividend edging eight other contenders in his weight class.

According to Lukines, he was already eyeing another IFBB qualifying competition in Hawaii early April but extended his provisions as only American citizens were allowed to participate in the event.

“I was a little bit distressed since extending my preparations also means I had to extend my supposed budget. Fortunately I came home top two and that is the least and best pay off to all my efforts,” Lukines quipped.

Lukines, who started his bodybuilding career since 2000, are among the body builders from Kapangan to bring home international titles in the sport like Jerome Kayamso, Mike Tiwtiw, and Jerome Layugan.
The recent international victory will be among the great achievements of Lukines, including his titles as Mr. Baguio (2003), Mr. Benguet (2003), and Mr. Panagbenga (2004).

And if things would go his way, Lukines said he will eye for the Mr. Olympia crown in the competition.

“So far I will take at least a month’s rest but after that I will resume as I prepare for the upcoming contest,” Lukines said.

Lukines is the current owner of Benguet Fitness Center located at 4th floor Maharlika Building where he offers fitness lessons in bodybuilding, aerobics, plus programs like taekwondo and karate.

“This achievement is not only for me but for all the people and organizations that helped during my preparation,” Lukines added.

The City Government of Baguio, the Provincial Government of Benguet, Congressman Nicasio Aliping Jr., Congressman Ronald Cosalan, Daniel Mangalay, Alfredo Banagao, and Michael Lawana bankrolled Lukines’ participation in the California joust.
