CAR RACING must be in their genes.

Multi–titled race car driver Carlos Anton and son Iñigo proved their worth during the weekend in stomping their class in the M-FEST time attack and Touge competitions at Clark Speedway recently.

Using his reliable Mark Young-Works Bell Honda EF, the older Anton set his third record in as many races this year after speeding off in a minute and 7.90 seconds at the Clark East track while his son checked in third place in the Novice 2 liter and above category in both the Time Attack events and Touge Battle runs.

Iñigo is showing promise as a potential race car champion driver with his third podium finish in his young racing career.

Alfie Concepcion of JSD Autosport, who took a year off racing due to injury, finished a strong second to Carlos in the Race Car category in both events.

“It’s great to win alongside Iñigo again. He is really an amazing driver at just 9 years old. Our car ran well all day and to get our third record in the three races we have joined is something special. I hope our win streak continues,” Anton said.

In April last year, the father and son tandem set records in the Circuit Showdown round 2 at the Clark International Speedway.

Anton smashed his old record at Clark Speedway and re-setting it to 1 minute 4.673 seconds using the Mark Young-Hornitex prepared CRX.

His son Iñigo also set his own record by becoming the youngest ever race car driver in Philippine History at 8 years old. With his father sitting on the passenger’s seat, Iñigo used a 325i 200 Horsepower BMW to set a time of 1 minute 28.483 around the short track even beating a couple of grownups in his class.

“Another young racer from Baguio City Gab Sohu also won in his division making the racers from the Summer Capital marked men during national racing events,” Anton added.

Anton is backed by Yokohama, Castrol, Works Bell Brakes, Cars Unlimited, Autoshack, JSD Autosports, Special Stage, Hornitex, View Park Hotel, Ethanworxs and Mospeed.
