ST. JOSEPH scored another convincing victory after beating Porta Vaga, 93-77, to advance to the semifinals in bracket C of the 8th Panagbenga Cup Invitational Basketball Tournament.
“We really came to perform our best tonight since this is a knock-out game fighting for the semis, we are glad that we went forward and that is really important for the team,” said playing coach Dave Stapely.
Stapely once again pulled off a dominant performance, scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds including four assists and a block in the game held at Easter College gym.

Portavaga however, narrowed the gap to just four, 40-36, in the 2:15 mark of the second period as Boshong Dizo, Mark Molina, and Dennis Macalintal stepped up their offensive attacks. The first half ended at 48-41 in St. Joseph's favor.
