AFTER a heart breaking five set loss in their debut, Saint Louis University failed to win another match as they fell to an early 0-2 card in the Shakey’s V-League Season 11 First Conference at The Arena in San Juan.

The 2012 Baguio – Benguet Educational Athletic League went toe-to-toe against Southwestern University of Cebu only to falter in the fifth set, 25-20, 23-25, 25-15, 21-25, 19-17.

The Lady Navigators fought back from 17-19 down to steal the fourth, but blew a chance to snatch the match after taking a 14-12 lead, giving the Lady Cobras two points, trailed again at 15-16 but took four of the next five points to clinch the hard-earned win.

It was a sorry setback for the Lady Navigators who looked headed for a big reversal when it went ahead at 14-12 in the fifth.

Former Lady Navigator Krissian Tsuchiya put in a game-high 26 hits, including 22 attacks, but wavered in the end, while Colleen Rossi and former UC Lady Jaguars Roxanne Almonte added 13 and 10 points, respectively, for SLU, which also drew nine markers from Daniel and seven from Florence Madulid.

SWU outhit SLU, 54-47, and had more blocks, 16-9, but the Lady Cobras just couldn’t finish off the Navigators, who kept on charging back from a big deficit, 8-14, in the fourth to stay alive.

In their second game, Adamson made short work of the Baguio-based university, 25-10, 25-10, 25-20 Thursday afternoon.

Mylene Paat, who once suited for University of Baguio during the 2011 season when the Lady Cardinals won the women’s volleyball crown, came up with 11 points for the Lady Falcons, rookie Jessica Galanza added nine and Bhebs Pineda scored eight as the Lady Falcons completed the win in only 68 minutes.

Former UB Cardinals Florence Madulid and Tsuchiya finished with six and five markers, respectively, for St. Louis while the rest of the team combined for 11 points.
