PHILIPPINE mix martial arts poster boy Eduard Folayang is once again set to see action in the upcoming One Fighting Championship when it returns to the Mall of Asia Arena May 2 featuring reigning Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano Fernandes defending his title against Japanese sensation Masakatsu Ueda.

Folayang, who have not fought since his unanimous decision victory in December, has yet to have an opponent for theMay 2 card but the Team Lakay fighter confirmed he has signed up for the event dubbed ‘Rise of Heroes’ that is expected to draw MMA fans in the country and rest of the world.

“As usual, we are training hard for the May 2 fight,” said the soft-spoken Folayang who defeated Vincent Latoel during the ONE FC 13: Moment of Truth wayback December 2013 for his 13th win in 17 fights.
Another Team Lakay standout in Rey Docyogen is expected to sign for the May 2 event for the flyweight bout.

The Ultimate Reality Combat Championship champion has not been inside the cage since his last fight on ONE FC 9: Rise to Power in May 2013.
Docyogen, who took Bachelors of Science in Architecture at the University of the Cordillera, passed the Architecture Licensure Examination given by the Philippine Regulation Commission and Board of Architecture early January this year.

Two top featherweights in Asia, Rob Lisita and Yusuke Kawanago, will also meet in what is expected to be a slugfest, while rising Malaysian star Gianni Subba battles local favorite Eugene Toquero in Flyweight action.

“Expect One FC: Rise of Heroes to be a night of explosive knockouts and exciting finishes as we return to the Philippines with probably the most exciting fight card ever! The 10 bouts that are planned for the night will feature the biggest stars from the Philippines and around the world,” said CEO Victor Cui.

Cui added these bouts will set the tone for a blockbuster card that will keep fans from around the world on the edge of their seats particularly in the main event with Fernandes having the toughest test of his historic career when he takes on Japanese sensation Ueda.

Considered as the most decorated mma fighter in the world today, Fernandes unified the Oen Fc bantamweight belt by defeating Soo Chul Kim in impressive fashion.

Ueda on the other hand is the former Shooto Featherweight Champion, a belt he defended successfully three times and has an outstanding 18-2-2 record.
