Baguio to host Le Tour anew

THE City of Baguio will once again host the finish line and awarding ceremony of the Le tour de Filipinas 2014 fifth edition this coming April 24.

Le Tour de Filipinas, the only international cycling tournament in the country authorized by cycling body Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) wherein aside from local teams, international teams coming from the countries of Netherlands, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Iran, Mongolia, Ireland, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Malaysia, Portugal, United Arab Emirates, Brunei, Australia, Japan, and Germany will be coming in the city to witness the culminating activities.

Stage 1 of the race will be on April 21 starting from Clark to Olongapo City. Stage 2 (Olongapo City to Cabanatuan) on April 22. Stage 3 (Cabanatuan to Bayombong) on April 23 and Stage 4 (Bayombog to Baguio) on April 24.


To ensure a peaceful and successful hosting, Mayor Mauricio Domogan directed the Baguio City Police Office to provide patrol escort, security support, crowd control and traffic management as well as the Baguio City Fire Station for the fire trucks.

The Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council and Emergency Medical Services, for medical support.

The Tourism and Special Events Division of the Office for the Administration together with the City Environment and Parks Management Office and City Engineer’s Office will be in charge for the preparation of the Rose Garden, Burnham Park for the banquet and awarding ceremony on April 24.

Baguio City National High School will provide the cultural show.

“Let us take this opportunity to promote our sports tourism in the city. Le Tour de Filipinas has brought our country among the cycling race destinations of professional athletes,” said City Administrator Carlos Canilao. (Jho Arranz)
