HAULING 18 Gold, 5 Silver and 4 Bronze medals, the Baguio Arnis All Stars continues its feat as it grabbed the over-all championship in the just concluded 1st Pampanga National Arnis Championship held at the Robinsons Place Angeles, Balibago Angeles City, organized by Pro-Active Arnis League in coordination with the Department of Education and Arnis Philippines-NSA the one day event held February 16.

Amidst the call for the removal of contact sports in major sporting events in the country, Arnis still attracts many enthusiasts and participants from the elementary, high school and college levels.
With this kinds of successful events, the organizers, participants and supporters of the art of Arnis hope to relay a message that implies the safety of the sport and send a message to authorities to have a deep review on what sport is really harmful to athletes.

Generalizing would be unfair for many sports that are readily judged because of the neglect of some.

From this authors perception, what is wrong and what makes the event dangerous is not actually the sport but how the sport is conducted, procedures and management of the event is where the lapse is and it should not affect any particular sport as a whole.

Majority of the existing sports has been around for many years that problems and accidents arise less than the existence of the sport discipline, so the sport really is not the problem but the management that runs the event for the sport.

Sports like Arnis is not on its perfect state and it may never be, because accidents and problems may arise anytime but continued study on how to make it safe for everyone does not stop, as long as there is a high regard for safety before anything else, accidents would be lesser and even prevented.

The Baguio Arnis All Stars keeps a close watch on the value of safety as it continue to seek training through exposure. The achievements like the over-all championship in the just concluded 1st Pampanga National Arnis Championship is part of the teams’ commitment to excellence, experience enhances the lessons that each member learns in training and proves all theories instructed there-in.

So for another job well done! Kudos to the coaches, trainers and team Members who are in debt with gratitude to friends, families and sponsors that remain to believe in the teams’ advocacy and skills with the wonderful backing of the important prayers.
