BENGUET Electric Cooperative stopped Dontogan Women's Association to win game one in their best of three series finals match-up of the Baguio City National High School-Special Program for Sports Invitational Volleyball Tournament-Executive Division.

The Beneco Lady Spikers need only three sets to earn the upper hand, 26-24, 25-18, 25-19, against Dontogan at the BCNHS gym Sunday afternoon.

Michelle Remo and Cindy Benitez punctuated yet another sterling performance spawning 19 points each to fortify Beneco’s chase for the season’s crown.

"Nag-work out ng maayos yung gameplan for this game, masaya kami na nakuha namin ang advantage to control the series," said Beneco coach Jojo Crisostomo after the game.

Crisostomo added they were able to turn the tables by forcing errors against their opponents.

“Actually yung gusto nilang gawin sa amin ibinalik lang namin sa kanila, gusto nilang makuha ang advantage sa hulog ng bola pero nakapag-adjust ang team. Utakan na lang ang laban namin, and it paid off,” Crisostomo said.

Benitez, together with Remo who won six titles during their BBEAL heydays as UC Lady Jaguars powered Beneco to a good start in the first set tripping every attempt by Dontogan.

Dontogan came back strong in the second set as Joan Castro, Marife Olba, and Joy Adiwang teamed up to take an early 11-14 lead but failed to sustain the run as Beneco once again took over in the latter part of the second set for a commanding two set lead.

“Medyo na-challenge ako para magtrabaho since magagaling sa ball receive yung kabilang team, pero ok lang since kinaya naman na manalo. Sigurado na ito, we will go for the kill sa game two,” Remo said.

Castro lead Dontogan dropped ten including four aced volleys, while Aurora Daping and Adiwang added six and four each.
