DONTOGAN Women's Association downed Baguio College of Technology, 20-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-13, to arrange a finals showdown with Benguet Electric Cooperative in the on-going Baguio City National High School-Special Program for Sports Invitational Volleyball Tournament-Executive Division.
Beaten in the first set, Dontogan rallied strong as team captain Joan Castro and teammate Aurora Daping delivered 16 big scores apiece knocking down BCT in the semis at the BCNHS gym on a Sunday.
"The team should be ready, malakas ang makakalaban nila sa para sa championship,” said DWA coach Emil Rimando.
Rmando added the team should be tougher come the finals round.
"Kailangan siguraduhin ng mga players na mag-focus na gandahan ang reception at attack sa bola," Rimando added.
The BCT Lady Atoms pulled an early first set win but failed to follow it up behind Miguela Caoili and Gerlyn Lumasi’s tip.
But the fervent Dontogan squad came back in the second set as Castro charged her team to win after the 15 all deadlock and tie the game with one set apiece.
Daping then took the lead for her team as she put them in front 8-3 early in set three, but BCT were able to answer back as they regain control of the lead, 15-20. The Lady Atoms tried to capitalize but Castro and the rest of Dontogan stormed back with a 10-2 run to finish the set and gain control of the ball game.
BCT then tried to stage a comeback in the fourth set as sisters Gerlyn and Monica Lumasi forced to a 2-7 start, but Dontogan shut down the Lady Atoms strong comeback.
Gerlyn lead the scoring for BCT with 10 points, while Monica and Caoili added eight and six points.
