BENGUET Electric Cooperative toppled MOOG Inc. in the semis to advance to the finals of the on-going Baguio City National High School-Special Program for Sports Invitational Volleyball Tournament-Executive Division.

The Beneco lady spikers delivered a skilful display of action with three straight set victories, 25-19, 25-17, 25-23 at the BCNHS gym Sunday morning.

Former UC Lady Jaguars Cindy Benitez punctuated 20 points while Michelle Remo added 16 more as they set the tone for Beneco’s championship bid.
“Actually crucial ang game na ito since kapag nalaglag kami dito we will play for third place nalang, we thought the pressure was here pero lalo pang nadagdagan since pasok kami for the finals,” said Beneco coach Jojo Crisostomo.

With the victory, Beneco are just two wins away as they await the result of the Dontogan Women’s Association and Baguio College of Technology match-up, where the winner will be facing-off the power distributors for the season’s crown.

“Ngayon we should just focus to our game and we hope ma-carry namin ang momentum na ito sa finals,” Crisostomo added.

MOOG found no luck defending its side of the court as Beneco came away with six points lead to finish the first set with Remo commanding the floor generating six points in the outing.

But Moog was not easily shaken off by the first set loss as Former SLU Lady Navigators Krissian Tsuchiya stepped-up for her team as they settle for a 10-12 run but failed to sustain their efforts and fell behind 0-2.

MOOG was able to keep a close score in the third set but Beneco then seized the momentum to score another repeat upsetting the championship dream of their opponents.

“After winning the semis with three straight sets, we as a team feel more confident entering the finals, actually malaking bagay ito to boost our moral,” said Benitez.

Remo meanwhile said they should be more careful to whoever they face in the championship.

“Siyempre we look to match-up against the team na malaki ang advantage namin, but kung Dontogan ang makakalaro well sigurado kailangan namin na magtrabaho ng husto sa floor,” Remo closed.

Tsuchiya lead MOOG with 11 points while teammates Jhen Toquire and Pauline Aimee Baba scored four points apiece.
