WITH all the talks about global warming, did you ever think how fitness facilities can join in the effort to “go green” and be eco-friendly in their operations? Like sports and fitness practitioners who go to facilities for health and fitness, fitness facility operators should take steps to clean up and conserve.

Looking at the many ways no matter how small, eco-friendly solutions can be put into place at fitness centers. With all the policies and the practices that facility operators implement, albeit the efforts you have to go through for policies to be followed if individuals are undisciplined enough to understand, even simple posted policies like “Keep the Gym Clean”, then your efforts to benefit both your facility and clients is in jeopardy.

In the Baguio City alone, you can witness litter tattered, untidy sports and other facilities, even roads becomes garbage dumps during the day before collection, aside from the continuous efforts of government and other agencies in promoting cleanliness for health. What more can be done if thoughtlessness and concern of individuals cannot be realized?

Perceptions of fitness facilities may differ for every individual after looking into facility amenities, services and conveniences it offers.

But however you look at sport and fitness facilities; each houses the development of health and fitness, a priceless benefit that should be realized by the stakeholders that goes hand in hand with self discipline to make a person change for the better.

Like other dojo’s or gyms, respect for the facility is primordial, after all, it is where you develop yourself for better health, fitness, skills, talents, and discipline, and while the world shouts to cure the now ailing world caused by “global warming,” it is every individuals’ sense of duty to help solve.

However, most sports facility goers wouldn’t mind cleanliness, energy saving nor equally healthy suggestions, they think paying their dues in change for health is enough to leave everything to the facility management.

Although this is a common practice in the local setting, management of facility should not be one sided, it should be a partnership between management and clients. Both should team up to make up what they can do to help the environment with every little things they can do in their sport facility to go eco-friendly.

Inventiveness and innovation, with a little of individual habit change can help better the environment, small things individuals can do like recycling water bottles, saving on energy, waste segregation etc. is one way of maintaining health worthiness of a facility.

It’s your choice, by innovating and implementing ideas suitable for your facility you are not only helping alleviate environmental awareness but providing your facility with the recognition it deserves.

Through your own creativity and originality, you can provide your facility the market appeal, effectiveness, and the safety and ethics it needs to provide for your clients.
