UNCERTAINTY hounds Daniel Parantac’s operation to repair his injury sustained during the 27th Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar last year.

“I’m still awaiting for word from the National Wushu Federation,” Parantac said during the Kafagway Sports Achievers Award Janaury 18 at the Malcolm Square.

The SEAG gold medalist has to undergo the knife to repair the meniscal tear and a medial collateral ligament tear to be able to join the Asian Games this year in South Korea.

“What I heard is that they still have to approve the budget for my operation,” added the University of the Cordilleras education graduate.

His injury, he said will take at least three months to heal before he could plunge into training for the upcoming Asiad.

Parantac, who also won silver in the recently held 27th SEAG, was scheduled to be operated this month in Manila which will to be shouldered by the Wushu Federation of the Philippines including the therapy needed for faster recovery.

“Hopefully ma-approve agad yung budget for my operation kasi kelangan maka balik agad sa ensayo,” quipped Parantac.
It was the fourth SEAG of Parantac, who took a bronze medal in the 2007 and 2009 editions and silver in the Indonesian games in 2011.

Earlier, Parantac’s friends sent an SOS for the operation of the bemedalled athlete, who has been bringing honor to Baguio and the country for his exemplary performance in national and international events.

Parantac was among the awardees during the Kafagway rites held in honor of the city’s best performing athletes who competed in international event and brought honor to the country.

The bemedalled Wushu athlete took home the "Athlete of the Year" honor for his feat in the recent SEAG while fellow Baguio boy Benjie Rivera was named "Athlete of the Decade."

Other members of the Wushu national team who joined the SEAG were also honored.
