AFTER winning their last two ballgames, defending champion Philippine Women’s University Lady Falcons and the Kings College of the Philippines Lady Lancers share the top seat in the women’s volleyball of the 12th Cordillera Higher Education Athletic Association.

The Lady Falcons is on for another chase at the title by disposing Benguet Vocational School in two sets, 25-10, 28-26 then followed it up with another win over Data Center College of the Philippines Lady Spartans, 25-11, 25-18.

The La Trinidad based Lady Lancers meanwhile escaped AMA College Lady Atoms, 17-25, 25-13, 25-15 before disposing Easter College Lady Phoenixes, 25-12, 25-12.

Despite the loss, the Lady Spartans and BVS volleybelles also share the number two spot with an identical 1-1 win loss slate.

AMA Lady Atoms and the Lady Phoenix have yet to score their first win after two failed attempts.

In men’s volleyball, DCCP Spartans, KCP Lancers, and BVS earlier came up with one victories each while the Benguet School of Business and Technology, ECI Phoenix, and PWU Falcons still remain winless.

Defending champion Cordillera Career Development College is out of contention after failing to make their entry, the men’s volleyball has became an open race with last year’s runner-up Data Center as favourite to win the crown.

Even with CCDC out, tournament manager Danny Eduardo said they hope for an improved volleyball competition this year.

“Although hindi ganoon ka-prestige ang CHESAA volleyball tournament gaya ng iba pang collegiate competitions, we will try to make it a success,” said Eduardo.

“Hopefully if we could continue this programs sa organization we could develop better staging ng mga laro, hirap lang kasi ang mga atheletes since not all of the schools in CHESAA have their own gym to practice on,” Eduardo added.

The tournament which officially opened January 22 will run until the 31st of the month where the championship games are also scheduled.
Other schools included in this season for CHESAA are Baguio College of Technology, NIIT – Baguio, Philippine Nazarene College, and HML College.
