STUDENT athletes coming from the Cordillera Administrative Region Association of State Universities and Colleges may have to shelve their dream of conquering the State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association.

Benguet State University general athletic manager Eduardo Laconsay said during an interview that the national SCUAA board has not yet given memo prior to the holding of SCUAA national meet.

“As of now wala pang actual given na paper stating whether postponed or not ang SCUAA, but rumours among its regional members suggest that it will have to be rescheduled because of some important reasons,” said Laconsay.

Laconsay added the postponement of the SCUAA nationals have been caused by the calamities experienced in the southern part of the country.

“Alam naman natin na maraming nangyari recently sa Pilipinas that left ruthless effects, according to our fellow SCUAA members the Visayan delegates are having a hard time to produce participants for the nationals,” said Laconsay.

“May speculations na baka hindi na ituloy ang nationals this year, kasi kung mayroon sana ay nasa intensive stage na sana ang training nga mga atheletes natin who will be joining the different sport events,” Laconsay added.

The national SCUAA sports meet has its largest delegation coming from the Bicol Region, and in the Western and Eastern Visayas with a total of 31 member SUC’s.

CARASUC is the regional association of state universities and colleges here in the Cordillera region, governed by the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) which was established to give importance to the role of the different SUC’s nationwide.

Last year, the Cordillera Administrative Region has improved its overall rank after placing 6th with 13 gold and three bronze medals, out of 17 different regions all over the country,

The CAR delegations were able to advance their reputes after earning its medal haul from taekwondo and football events.

In December last year, BSU topped the regional finals after their 93-50-17 gold-silver-bronze medal haul.

Other CARASUC members are Mountain Province State Polytechnic College, Ifugao State University, Abra State Institute of Science and Technology, University of the Philippines-Baguio, Kalinga Apayao State College, and Apayao State College.
