KEVIN “The Silencer” Belingon is set to enter the cage as he seeks to improve his mixed martial arts career against Korean Dae Hwan Kim in ONE FC: War of the Nations slated March 14 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

After delivering a spectacular first round knockout against Spaniard David Aranda in the recent ONE FC: Moment of Truth bantam weight division, the Team Lakay warrior will prove his striking prowess anew as he will face the highly touted undefeated Korean fighter.

Team Lakay coach Mark Sangiao said during a phone interview they will surely prepare for the upcoming Malaysia fight.

“Official na ang schedule ng laban, the day that it was confirmed nag-umpisa na si Kevin sa conditioning preparations niya,” said Sangiao.

Sangiao mentioned they will stick to the training the team earlier had for ONE FC: Moment of Truth held last December in Manila.

“We will still do the same preparations just as we did the last time,” Sangiao said.

“I guess the key will be more on focusing with his ground and pound game to keep Kevin in the balance come the day of the fight,” added Sangiao.

Belingon currently holds a win-loss record of 12-3 with his ONE FC 3-3 best, while Kim, who has a 9-0-1 record, is also on the hunt for his own championship belt.

Kim put on one of the most exciting back-and-forth bouts in ONE FC history during his last fight against Australia’s Thanh Vu, where he won by tapping out his opponent via a rear-naked choke four minute and ten seconds into the second round.

Headlining the March 14 card at the iconic Stadium Negara is a clash between Nobutatsu Suzuki and UFC veteran Brock Larson, fighting for the inaugural welterweight title.

Also slated are bouts between flyweights Adriano Moraes and Yasuhiro Urushitani and a rematch between top women MMA fighters Singaporean Sherilyn Lim and Sabah born Ann “Athena” Osman, locking horns for the second time after Lim won courtesy of a razor thin split decision when they fought last year.

Also in action will be Malaysian lightweight Peter Davis, although his opponent has yet to be announced.

“Following the resounding success of ONE FC’s jam-packed events in Malaysia in 2013, we are returning to Kuala Lumpur with one of the best cards in the organization’s history,” said ONE FC CEO Victor Cui in a statement.

“The ONE FC Welterweight division is filled with the most talented mixed martial artists in the world and we will crown the best of the best when Nobutatsu Suzuki meets Brock Larson,” he added.
