City High hosts volleyball tourney

EIGHT teams started their title hunt as Baguio Baguio City National High School Special Program for Sports hosts this year’s SPS Invitational Volleyball Tournament-Executive Division.

The tournament, now on its third year officially kicked off last year and will run until February 15.

Tournament Director Ortez Gabol said the sports event will be a fund raising tournament for the benefit of the SPS students of BCNHS.


“With this tournament, we plan to improve the facilities and equipment used by our students,” said Gabol adding the competition also aims to develop camaraderie among the different competing offices.

“This is also a venue for everyone to enjoy and take a break from their stressful fields of work and at the same time promote sports as a beneficial and useful way of preserving a healthy life style,” added Gabol.

Teams participating in this season’s tournament are Baguio City National High School, Rizal National High School, Baguio City Halll, Baguio College of Technology, Commision on Audit, Dontogan Women’s Association, Benguet Electric Cooperative, and MOOG Inc.

DWA currently lead the standings with a 2-0 win-loss record after defeating BCNHS and RNHS in the first two games.

City Hall and BCT share the number two rank with identical 2-1 record, with BCT earning its first defeat from the MOOG squad who ranks at the third spot with a current 1-1 card.

COA and RNHS will try to strengthen their bid after unsuccessful events in the previous games while Beneco has yet to make their debut for the season.

Trophies and certificates will be given to the winning teams at the end of the season, with special citations to the best players of the tournament.
