BAGUIO Central School – Department of Education routed Philippine Health Insurance Corporation to secure their second straight win in the ongoing eliminations of the women’s volleyball of the 1st Domogan Cup Inter-Employee Volleyball tournament 2013.

BCS – DepEd exhausted PhilHealth in a two set victory, 25-16, 25-18, as Roxanne Almonte rallied her team scoring 16 points and demonstrating superb floor defense.

BCS – DepEd team captain Mercy Balawon said their team went through tough practice in order prepare for the ballgame.

“Masaya at mahirap, we won kaya masaya kami kasi mahirap na practice ang pinagdaanan namin over the weekend to deliver against our opponents,” said Balawon.

“Marami kaming pinag-aralan na play that we could apply sa game namin, but the thing that we enjoy what we do already pays off kung ano man ang pagod sa laro,” Balawon added.

The BCS – DepEd flourished over an early 10-0 lead with Almonte sailing through nine service aces during the start of the first set.

But PhilHealth was able to recompose stepping up on the ball reception which took their team to close the gap, 26-16. However, this was the closest PhilHealth was able to score after BCS – DepEd was carried by the offensive doses from Almonte and Elvie Daguio.

PhilHealth staged to bounce back during the second set as Augie Perl Simangan strengthened their offensive attacks, but BCS – DepEd was just too good on receiving the ball keeping the match in a see-saw lead.

BCS – DepEd tried to shake the competition off their trail but PhilHealth held on as Simangan and Elvie Luma-ang contributed seven points closing the, 20-16, BCS – DepEd on edge.

But it was too little too late for PhilHealth as BCS – DepEd continued to rally offensively closing the game in a classic finish.

“Talagang tinutukan kasi namin ang game plan para kahit papaano makita dito sa tournament na malaki ang chance kung saka-sakali ng team namin,” Almonte said.
