Benguet councilors honor Caraa medalists

FOLLOWING their second place finish, Benguet officials penned a resolution commending their athletes’ effort in the 2013 edition of the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (Caraa) held in Luna, Apayao.

Benguet barely escaped Apayao for the number two spot with 434.60 points after winning football, women’s artistic gymnastics, sepak takraw, and tennis boys (tied with Mt. Province) in the elementary division while the secondary squad took the chess girls, softball, volleyball boys crown.

Baguio City amassed a total of 872 points to win the overall crown since hosting the regional meet in 2008 in both elementary and high school divisions, even as it saw the province of Apayao emerging as a serious title contender in close third with 419 points.


“The athletes’ discipline, determination, courage and trainings catapulted them to excellence in their fields of the competition which had brought honor to the province and inspiration to the youth,” the resolution noted.

Archer Gaway Tricia Bomogao led the gold medal haul for Benguet with his four gold productions in the archery secondary girls’ event.

Her winnings include the 30 meter, 40 meter, Olympic, and Fita round where she towed Benguet to a decent second place finish to Baguio in the archery competitions.

Other gold medalists for the province in the elementary division include Jixville Francisco (boxing), Glyzer Laddaran (WAG), Ceasar Jones Ayaman (Lawn Tennis doubles), Jovani Colantes (Lawn Tennis doubles),Kaiser Lasdacan (badminton singles, mixed doubles) Shyle Khloe Suayan (badminton singles, mixed doubles), Tagart Afidchao (sipa), Jesriel Baron (sipa), Ceasar Ian Puchacan (sipa), Edmark Lewis Sarlipan (sipa), Zoe Keith flores (RG ribbon, RG Hoop, RG Free Hand, RG Ball,RG Individual all around)Glycer Laddaran (WAG floor exercise, WAG team standing), and Leah Valentin (WAG team standing).
