Blah blah Blatche

All In Good Time

UNLIKE many imports who play in the PBA, this Juan is different.

This NBA player who plays for the Brooklyn Nets is coached by Jason Kidd. He sits alongside teammates Deron Williams, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, all All Stars. A premier NBA team which just made it to the playoffs.

So what?

While some teams in the PBA are now going against each other parading their imports, some good, some ok and some sent home, there seems to be Juan, who unlike the others, will play for the Philippine Flag.

May 28 is Flag Day and what better way to showcase this with the display of the flag alongside this Juan who stands almost at seven feet? Yes, the likes of him will be en route to Spain for the FIBA World championships.

The Philippines qualified by beating China, Japan and our nemesis South Korea. We placed second and a chance to play in the tournament after forty years. And again in the Asian Games in Incheon in South Korea.

Andrey Blatche was recently granted Filipino citizenship by a vote of twenty in favor and NO objections. All before Senator Jinggoy felt giving this citizenship to him might "cheapen" the process.

Of course just like me and every Juan, many felt the Senator might have missed something. Nevermind, I'm sure you may also have your own thoughts.

Well I'm just glad this is over and I congratulate my new kababayan. While others who play in the PBA are being paid, this guy offered to play for us for free and give us a fighting chance versus basketball powerhouses.

I stayed up all night to watch, witness the best football match that carried the Philippine Flag. This against the home team! Well, anyway we won on extra time. I may have a hard time pronouncing some names in our team or recognizing which Juan, still it made me proud seeing our colors fly. While these guys have Filipino mums they have all the right to be called Filipino.

But for Andrey it was different. Enough said he is on our side now. He will play for us. He will make every Juan proud I assure you.

Just for Jinggoy to know, almost all countries represented have a "naturalized" player, so why not the Philippines? Maybe the troubles we face with China started when we beat them in basketball. I'm just saying.

Our flag has been flying high lately. Also the reason for Mr. Blatche to want to be Juan. While the Senate has its own problems leave this one.

Why add color to this issue when the issue of colors is good for every Juan this time?

Blah. Blah. Blah.
