A CHANCE to have a career and new opportunities were opened for job seekers and for those looking for a more promising occupation in a job fair presented in Baguio City on Labor Day.

At SM City Baguio at least 1,200 job vacancies from 20 companies and three government agencies were offered in line with the 7th SM Supermalls Nationwide Job Fair which was made possible through the efforts of SM Prime Holdings, Inc. in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Employment, Public Employment Service Office under the Mayor’s office at Baguio City Hall, and the big support from the giant mall's tenants including its partner companies.

"This is just one way where we can do our share for the community," SM City Baguio PR Manager Karren Nobres said.

Nobres added that through the years SM Malls have been a catalyst in creating employment and business opportunities in all areas where they are located and the conduct of job fair is a priority.

The job fair is also the SM Mall's way of joining in the nationwide celebration of Labor Day and helping the newly graduates from the different colleges and universities in the locality in finding a job that they are aiming and wishing for.

The process of application was also made easier for the applicants as they were earlier advised to bring their resume and important documents usually asked by employers who conducted an on the spot interview and immediate hiring to qualified applicants.

The conduct of jobs fair is very important especially nowadays when the rate of unemployed and underemployed in the city including the entire country is very significant. It may not be the lone solution but it will help solve the problem on unemployment.

A continued partnership among the private companies and the government sector is needed to address this very challenging issue the country is facing. A strong support from the private sector is needed.

Make your job hunting a very challenging experience by grabbing and exploring opportunities that will come your way like visiting a job fair or doing online job search.

Now is the time to forget about PMA (Pahinga Muna Anak). Join the Proud Pinoy Workforce and be empowered by having not just a job but a career which you will be proud of. Good luck!
