"JUANA, Ang Tatag mo ay Tatag Natin sa Pagbangon at Pagsulong". This is the theme of this year's women's month celebration. The moment I read the theme, the first thing that popped in my mind was leadership. With the disaster, economic and political struggles we had last year, Philippine Commission on Women establishes the promotion of women to not only take part but to take a lead for the progress of our nation.

However, this doesn't mean that we have to be the president of the country to make a change in our lives and the life of others. Not even to be a mayor, congressman or governor, off course it is an edge if we stand to strengthen our government. But as students, we need to empower first self-governance and independence in our lives. We cannot dream ourselves as future leaders if we depend on our partners. We can never be the head in our offices someday if we are not focused and determined in our studies.

Meanwhile, we have to be knowledgeable about the Republic Act 9710 or the Magna Carta for Women which basically covers social protection and against discrimination in the socio-cultural perspective. We should never allow nor continue the mistakes of other women regarded as bothered wife victims. These are unwanted incidents that they surely don't want us to experience. Because no matter how your partner loves you it doesn't mean that he won't make you cry. It will always be an advantage if we know our rights.

First thing is first, for young-bloods like me, ladies should never secure themselves to their boyfriends. There are so many more things ahead of us. Romantic relationship should not be the priority. Instead, we should study and establish our career, if it has to be fame, then so be it. If we want to gain respect from other people, we should respect ourselves first. Starting from the clothes we wear, words we utter and people we be with.

Don't we dream to be successful someday? If you do, then lead yourself to the path where your parents aspire you to be. Depending to other people especially to partners should never be the option towards prosperity in life. We must empower ourselves every day, thinking that there should be an achievement daily. In that case, we will learn to appreciate our living not only as human beings who bears children but women who motivates and inspires other people in leading for a successful existence.
