THE parents’ role in their children’s learning is very important. That includes molding them to achieve spiritual growth.

Helping the parents achieve this goal for their children is the Kindasan Foundation Inc. (KFI) which has been doing significant projects for the children’s spiritual development such as the annual conduct of Bible Quiz Bee.

On its 6th year presentation KFI made the event more meaningful by holding the contest on January 18 in observance of the celebration of Bible Month this month of January under the Christian calendar. For the past five years the Quiz bee has been administered every month of December in the same venue at Cathedral of the Ressurection along Magsaysay Avenue Baguio City.

Bible Quiz Bee Project Chair Past President Rebecca Domogan said in her opening spiel as master of ceremonies of the event that they would also like to help the children have the proper spiritual direction. “We would like to train you to where you should go,” Domogan said.

KFI President Yasmin Abing said the annual Quiz Bee is also the foundation’s way of recognizing the efforts done by the different churches who offer Sunday schools and bible studies for the children.

“We offer this to the young children and to remind and encourage them to study the bible,” Abing added.

Thirty one participants representing eleven churches in the locality joined the quiz bee where winners and mentors were given cash prizes, tokens, and certificates of appreciation and recognition.

First place in the level I Division is Lheiane Jade Manecla from the Church of Epiphany, Richard Depidep from the Cathedral of the Resurrection 2nd place, and Robin Nev Abrera from the Holy Innocents Church 3rd place.

In level II Kendrick Diaten from Holy Guardian Angel Parish won first place followed by Nestor Poltic Jr of the Cathedral of the Resurrection and Sagrado Paolo Bayasen of Holy Innocents who won 2nd and third place respectively.

Meanwhile, Rac Abrera of Outstation at Cypress brought home the first place award, Francess Sagalla of Sts. Mary & Martha of Bethany 2nd place, and Philip Sagalla Jr. of Holy Innocents Church, 3rd place.

The event was also made possible with the big support of Florence Lardizabal who served as the Bible Quiz Bee Chair, KFI Vice President Mary Besselink, Secretary Nancy Gayman, Treasurer Judith Aquino, Past President Catherine Cabfit, Past President Florence Lardizabal, Directors Mildred Padcayan, Ursula Reyes, and Josephine Sandoval, and Charter President Sonia Daoas.

Meanwhile, University of the Cordilleras 3rd year Communication students David Balway, Lilian Tiburcio, and Rene Verdote also supported the event by mnaging the registration and documentation for the event.

Children while they are still young need to be molded to have a strong foundation. One of the most important things that they need to learn is to have spiritual educational development.
