LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Gun holders in the region have sought to have their firearms licensed.

The Police Regional Office conducted a three-day caravan starting March 18 in Abra as part of the License To Own and Possess Firearm (LTOPF).

The caravan catered 129 individuals in the province who flocked to the police headquarters.

The over 100 applicants have submitted requirements and ready for submission to the PNP National Headquarters.

The caravan aims to facilitate the processing of applications for firearm licenses of gun holders who did not avail of the first LTOPF caravan in 2014.

Among those who submitted requirements was the Abra Practical Shooting Club (TAPSC). The newly PNP Accredited Gun Club took part in the caravan by conducting Gun Safety and Responsible Gun Ownership seminar for the information of gun holders.

Cordillera Regional Director Isagani Nerez encourages all firearm holders without license or with expired licenses to avail of the LTOPF caravan of the PNP and to submit their application.

"Be cautious of the alleged proliferation of fake firearms license and permit to carry firearms outside of residence, PRO-Cordillera is looking into the extent of this illicit operation that manifests stringent efforts exerted by the PNP to stamp out this illegal activity and the people behind it," he said.
