Cordillera photog goes to Austria

RENOWNED veteran photojournalist David Leprozo is set to display images from the Cordillera in Vienna, Austria, showcasing the best of highland pride and culture.

Leprozo travels to Austria this week for the opening of his one-man show "Kordilyera," featuring his collections of portraits, landscapes and scenes of the region.

Leprozo opens his exhibit on August 7 in time for the 10th Igorot Global Organization conference.


The exhibit is supported by the Manila Broadcasting Corp, Aboitiz Corp, Philip Morris Fortune Tobacco Corp, John Hay Manor, Forest Lodge, Kubong Sawali, Beneco, Easter Weaving, Baguio Country club, Chanum Foundation, the Gani Nerez family, Dr. Brenda Atos Villanueva and family, Gladys De Vera, Bernardo Vergara and Marilou Bosshard.

Leprozo has been touring the world, taking his images with him and promoting the rich culture of the region with his exhibits seen in Canada, Hawaii and Southeast Asia.

"This is another milestone for me in showcasing my photographs to the world and in the age of information technology as the world can be online at a touch of a button eh may pagka -old school pa rin ang dating ng photo exhibits kaya may special place siya among old school photographers and artist, a few are from my film shooting days pa," Leprozo said.

Leprozo added the exhibit is also an opportunity to showcase the unique and colorful culture of the Cordilleras and inspire the Cordillerans and other Indigenous Peoples.

Leprozo is a known lover of the region’s culture, arts and heritage taking in the camera to the remotest areas to document highland way of life.

His advocacy is to promote the region through his images and allow people to marvel at the innate beauty of the highlands.
