LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Indigenous Peoples representative and board member Blas Dalus has mapped out his game plan for this term.

Sitting as the newest addition to the provincial board, Dalus is mandated to focus on concerns of the IP in the province.

Dalus has put legislation of laws preserving the Benguet Heritage sites and landmarks at the top of his priority.

Dalus, in his first actions in the board, also gave a privilege speech urging the provincial board to pass a resolution of condemnation against the acts against Mount Santo Tomas.

The IP representative was also one to raise concerns on the possible damage to burial caves in Tuba and urged for investigation.

Among the concerns of Dalus in his agenda is to support the “representation of IP’s in the Local Legislative Councils for those who did not yet select their mandatory representative to be included in their respective municipal allocations.”

Dalus also supported the updating of the 13 Ancestral Domain Sustainable Development and Protection Plan (ADSDPP) and for the integration of the Forest Land Use Plan or Comprehensive Land Use Plan of the 13 municipalities as well as the coordination of the implementation of the Indigenous Peoples rights especially their ancestral domain.

Among the concerns of Dalus is the coordination with other concerned offices for possible resolution for the state of the Small-scale Mining Industry and the issuance of permits and other issues and concerns.

Dalus also plans to coordinate with the National Commission on Culture and Arts (NCCA) for funding of cultural projects, programs and activities.
