LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- The Department of Education (DepEd)-Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and its partner agencies assured all is set for the opening of classes in all public schools in the region Monday.

DepEd–CAR chief administrative officer Delfin Sallidao said because of "Brigada Eskwela," all public schools are already clean and physically ready as he thanked parents and volunteers who participated in the activity.

DepEd–CAR estimates around 330,000 Cordillera students to be back in school for School Year 2014-2015, of which 32,306 are in kindergarten; 215,336 in elementary; and 90,284 in high school.

For peace and order, Cordillera police Deputy Director for Operations Superintendent Ronald Gayo assured that organized teams and deployment plans and police assistance desks are already in place.

He also assured local chief executives, barangay officials and other force multipliers will continue to ensure the safety of schoolchildren, teachers and parents.

For the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Consumer Welfare and Protection Division chief Sam Gallardo said DTI provincial offices are continuously monitoring availability of school supplies and compliance of traders to the Suggested Retail Price DTI released May 7.

Gallardo also encouraged the public to be climate change-adoptive and responsible consumers and to report to DTI any complaint about defective products or violations on consumer rights and welfare.

Meantime, Office of Civil Defense-CAR Planning Officer Jesse Rey Rios said their operations center is open 24/7 to monitor all activities, especially “Oplan Balik Eskuwela.”

He urged the public to report any situation needing immediate response. (Carlito Dar)
