LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- Board Member Jack Dulnuan is asking the Benguet Electric Cooperative (Beneco) to repair defective street lights in the province.
Dulnuan said defective streetlights abound in the mountain trail as well as in Marcos and Halsema Highway.
Dulnuan said if a lone streetlight is left open 24 hours in a day, it will cost roughly P600 a day to the detriment of the province, which pays for the consumption.
"It is observed that the streetlights are lit 24 hours in a day," Dulnuan in his resolution said.
Dulnuan in a resolution has asked the Beneco to cause the routinary monitoring and repair of defective streetlights installed in the province.
The alderman is also asking the streetlights to be turned off during the daytime.
Dulnuan said the repair of streetlights will save the province money through the lowering of electric bills adding conservation of energy is one of the concerns of the province.
Beneco department manager for Operations and Maintenance Engineer Rocky Pallogan in a phone interview assured however, the repair of defective streetlights was already accomplished as well as a routine check.
Pallogan has offered to submit a detailed report on the total number of streetlights the province has and a report on maintenance work done to defective streetlights.
Dulnuan is proposing a 15 day interval in the checking of streetlights in the province to keep track of all defective posts.
