LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The municipality of Kabayan has received an ambulance from the Provincial Government.
Mayor Faustino Aquisan requested the province to transfer to the municipality a lone ambulance unit without cost, agreeing to shoulder all repairs and maintenance of the unit.
“This municipality is very much in need of service vehicles for use during emergencies and for official businesses,” Aquisan said.
The request was backed by the entire local council of Kabayan and endorsed by Aquisan.
“The Municipality of Kabayan adopted various programs to address the needs of its constituents. It is becoming one of the destinations of local and foreign tourists,” the mayor added.
Department of Tourism reports showed Kabayan town as one of the top tourism destinations of the province, with Mt. Pulag, its lakes and caves being frequented by visitors all year round.
The chief executive said the implementation of programs is usually hindered by the lack of service vehicles including emergency response.
The spare ambulance of the province was just parked at the Benguet General Hospital compound and is not being utilized.
Aquisan committed to provide the necessary funds for the repair and replacement of worn out accessories of the vehicle.
The request was referred and approved by the Committee on Public Utilities, Transportation and Communication chaired by Board Member Jim Botiwey.
Botiwey and Committee vice chairman Benjamin Saguid approved the request last month finding no legal impediment in the transfer of the unit.
