LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- The University of Baguio bestowed honor on Benguet Governor Nestor Fongwan as an outstanding graduate.

The university commended Fongwan as the first distinguished alumnus lifetime awardee in simple rites at the UB Gym.

The Outstanding Alumni Awardee aims to recognize alumni who have attained remarkable success, for demonstrating excellence and integrity, and for continually advancing the Filipino community.

Fongwan is currently on his second term as governor of the province and graduated from UB with a degree in Accounting with Masters in Business Administration.

Valley council officials have commended this act of the university as well as the achievement of the governor in a resolution penned by Councilor Roderick Awingan and approved by the entire legislative body.

The resolution cited the governor's achievements including how he rose from the ranks as a Valley councilor, vice mayor and then mayor.

"During his term as Mayor of La Trinidad, his innate managerial and leadership skills were tested and proven," the resolution stated.

Fongwan's active participation and involvement in local and national matters and issues like local governance, best practices and good governance has "undoubtedly contributed to La Trinidad's being in the national limelight by being a recipient to various LGU national Awards."

"The award bestowed to Governor Fongwan is an inspiration not only to the youth but to the entire constituents of La Trinidad by demonstrating the value of commitment to education, determination to advance and sharing knowledge and skills by continually serving the community, truly worthy of emulation," the resolution ended.
