Binay escorts fall off Banaue ravine

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- An accident met the official delegation of Vice President Jejomar Binay in Banaue, Ifugao.

Based on initial police reports Friday lunchtime, one of the back-up vehicles of Binay fell off the side of the highway near Banaue town proper.

The vehicle fell about 10 to 15 meters down the road.


The Vice President was on his way to Banaue to turn over medical equipment and inaugurate a senior citizens' building.

The black Fortuner with plate number SJR-727 is part of the convoy of the Vice President driven by Danilo Tamo with three passengers: Alexander Solis, Alexander Sicat and Ramon Campital.

All passengers were injured and rushed to Good News Clinic Hospital for medical treatment.

Danilo Martinez sustained injuries on the right eyebrow while photographer, Roman Campita, will be brought to Manila because of a shoulder injury.

Binay came from Bauko, Mountain Province, Thursday morning to attend the local festival, Begnas Di Bauko, a thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest.
