THE VOICE of the Philippines contestant Daryl Shy seeks support from Cordillerans on his quest to be on top of the list.
The singer, composer, and indie music producer Shy, though born in Olongapo, represents Baguio City in the competition. He was born on January 30, 1969. He composed more than 1,000 songs with some of his original songs “Lately”, “Don’t Give Up On Us” and “Woody”.
He came in the city in 1996 where he took his college degree. He started singing professionally in 1989. He further developed his singing skills in trainings. He sings in folk houses, bars, and hotels around the city. Most of his songs are country.
In 2012, he auditioned for the competition in Baguio City where he was chosen among the 10,000 applicants who auditioned in the country. He is under singer Lea Salonga’s group on the competition.
The singer is married to Ann Angala who is a band manager in Manila. They have five kids, three of them with a passion for music like their father.
Starting this month to September, there will be a voting scheme where people could vote the singers of the competition through texts. With this, Shy hopes Cordillerans will support him as he represents the city.
The format for the voting through text will soon be announced on the segment of The Voice of the Philippines under ABS–CBN.
The show originated from Holland. ABS–CBN acquired the rights to produce a Philippine version of it after the successful US version. When it was brought to the country, Filipino TV show director Laurenti Dyogi confirmed the show. Dyogi was the man behind the Pinoy Big Brother, Pinoy Dream Academy, Junior Master Chef, among others.
