TABUK CITY, Kalinga –- Point persons of key government agencies involved in the development of the youth are set to undergo training on Adolescent Job Aid Manual through the Department of Health (DOH) Regional Office from July 16 to 18.

In a directive, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Romulo Gaerlan called for the attendance and active participation of all concerned sector to ensure the implementation of the DOH program as mandated through Administrative Order No. 34-A, series of 2000 which requires the formulation and implementation of adolescent and youth health policies in their localities.

Adolescents are among the vulnerable group prone to behavioral problems, teenage pregnancies and lifestyle related diseases. These concerns, he said, need to be addressed by providing clientele access to quality comprehensive care and services in an adolescent and youth friendly environment which must be available in their locality.

Through the training, DOH hopes to arm the key stakeholders the knowledge concerning prevalent risk behaviors among said sector to understand it’s developmental and environment contexts, Gaerlan said.

This will also equip participants with strategies in preventive health guidance counseling and on how to handle problems and provide appropriate help for their clients at risk. (Geraldine G. Dumallig)
