Tuba village launches 1st Cave Festival

TUBA, Benguet – A barangay here has initiated the 1st Cave Festival that could put the place in a spotlight.

Barangay Ansagan Tourism president Jenny Vi Piguro said the Cave Festival aims to promote the tourism industry and agricultural products of the place.

The Cave Festival, with a theme: “Empowering our community on environmental awareness, cultural preservation and tourism promotion towards economic growth,” will be held on April 27 and 28.


On April 27, the participants will be meeting in front of the Department of Tourism (DOT)–Cordillera at 11 a.m. They will proceed to Ansagan then there will be a ceremonial butchering of pigs and social activities on the afternoon.

On April 28, participants will be having a trek to the Ubong–Ubong Cave and at the same time sunrise viewing at 5 a.m. Then from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., the team will visit the six caves in the barangay namely Lolongan, Bengag, Idaw, Pipingaw, Duwag, and Takadang.

Registration fee is P600 for the participants’ transportation, dinner and lunch, souvenir t–shirt, certificate, and tourist guide fees.
