FORT DEL PILAR - Philippine Military Academy (PMA) is set to welcome 276 new cadets for class 2017.
The new cadets will report for training over the summer with 182 males and 84 females for reception and oath taking rites in April 1.
The qualified cadets were chosen from 14,540 who took the nationwide examination in 2012 where only 1,096 passed to the next phase.
A complete physical examination conducted at the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center, as well as psychological and physical examination to determine their fitness to undergo the four-year military training in the Academy.
After the series of examinations, the PMA Cadet Procurement Board deliberated and selected the most qualified candidates to compose PMA Class of 2017.
Years ago, PMA revised the height requirements at the military academy to accommodate aspiring soldiers short in height.
Previously, the PMA only admits cadets who are 5’4" for males and 5’2" for females.
PMA is now opening its doors to a larger pool of applicants and those interested will now have the chance to take the PMA Cadet Qualification Test. (Maria Elena Catajan)
