Flower fest promises a ‘gastronomic voyage’

ORGANIZERS of the annual “Session Road in Bloom” promised to take Baguio City residents and visitors on an unforgettable gastronomic experience in the weeklong activity.

Panagbenga Festival chairman Freddie Alquiros said food offerings from Filipino, Italian, Korean, Mille Eastern, and American are among the food offerings that will delight visitors of some 237 stalls at the Session Road in Bloom.

Festival co-chair Anthony De Leon said the SRB, which is a yearly activity organized by the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio, will not be left out from the international cuisine offered because of the food products and handicrafts from Nueva Ecija, Ilocos and Marikina, Visayas and Mindanao.


De Leon added there are also products coming from the Cordilleras and Baguio City with signature woven garments, hometown favorite foods, including “One Town One Product” items from towns in the region.

He also said that plants and flowers will remain a showcase of the festival with booths composed of local plant growers selling orchids, bonsai, cacti and various ornamental plants.

Among those being sold at SRB includes lamps, woodcrafts, RTW, books, ornaments, accessories, shoes, De Leon added.

The crowd will also be entertained by some of the popular bands like Calla Lily, 6-Cycle Mind as well as local performers namely: Baguio Metamorphosis, the Edralins, among others.

Classical, jazz and orchestra music, Cordillera dance performances, fashion shows, baking demonstrations also await visitors, De Leon said.

Other highlights of the SRB activity include street performances from cosplayers, floral art installation called a Balangay and ornamental plant decorated stalls.
