DSWD honors outstanding partners-A A +A

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) honored recently the different agencies, groups, and individuals who participated in last year’s DSWD programs in providing social services in Cordillera.
The DSWD–Cordillera Administrative Region (DSWD-CAR) through Regional Director Leonardo Reynoso gave plaques of recognition to the awardees under the nine kinds of awards in January 25 at Hotel Supreme, Baguio City.
The nine awards are: child friendly municipalities; Salamat Po; non-government organization (NGO); re–marriage counselors; social welfare managing court–related cases; senior citizens center; Panata Ko; Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (Praise) regional winners; and the loyalty awards to the employees of DSWD.
The child-friendly towns awards went to La Trinidad, Benguet under the first to third class municipality; Kiangan, Ifugao for the fourth to sixth class place; and the highly urbanized Baguio City. Banguet, Abra; Kapangan, Benguet, and Sadanga, Mt. Province are also among the other regional entries for this category.
The Salamat Po awards have four types: inter–agency (people’s organizations), Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), local government units, and the media.
The awardees under the inter–agency are Brigida Cecilia Abratique, PCI Caroline Tacay Lacuata, Dr. Virginia Narciso, and Dr. Milandre Rusgal.
The SLP awardees are San Roque Corporation, the local government unit of Tabuk City, Knights of Columbus under District Deputy Jose Hortelano, and the provincial local government units of Abra, and Apayao.
The local government unit (LGU) awardees are Mt. Province and Kalinga.
The media award goes to Sun.Star Baguio while Baguio Midland Courier and the Baguio Chronicle are the awardees for the print category.
The broadcast media awardees are Bombo Radyo Baguio, dzWT Totoo, and the ABS–CBN TV 3 Baguio. A plaque of appreciation was also given to the Philippine Information Agency (PIA).
The certificates of accreditations were given to Save Our Street Children Foundation Inc. and the senior citizens’ center of Aurora Hill, Baguio City.
The Panato Ko awards were presented to the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
The Praise regional winners, who will represent the region for the national competition, are: DSWD Regional Director Leonardo Reynoso; DSWD Assistant Regional Director Isabel Nillas; DC Perlita Panganiban; Rogerson Dennis Fernandez; Ruth Zamuco; and Concepcion Navales.
Loyalty awards were also presented to DSWD employees who had contributed excellent services for the attainment of the agency’s objectives. These employees are workers who served the agency for 10 to 35 years.
Apart from the plaque, the awardees like the LGUs, Provincial Government units, and the highly urbanized city will be receiving cash incentives.
The Mr. and Ms. DSWD 2013 was also staged as part of the DSWD’s 62nd anniversary. (Rubyloida Bitog)
