FORTY-FOUR football coaches across the province and Visayas region are set to finish the National Coaches Certificate Course (NCCC) at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City today.

Negros Occidental Football Associaition (Nofa) General-Secretary Ronald Treyes said this program of Nofa in partnership with the Philippine Football Federation is designed to uplift the standard and competence of local coaches in the province.

“As our Nofa president, Ricky Yanson aims to promote the grassroots development in the province, our coaches should also know how to handle players at this level. We will be dealing players with age groups and we should know the proper way to direct them,” Treyes said.

Treyes said that Nofa would also like to see all coaches participating in the association-sanctioned tournaments licensed.

“With this program, we also want to help our Negrense mentors acquire higher level of coaches’ certificates in order for them to handle national age-group national teams in the future,” he added.

PFF Regional Technical Director John Carmona reiterated that education is the key to success.

“There is a need to educate our coaches to raise the standard of football in the province. The coaches should be aware of the latest trends in football, in which players should be technically good, tactically understand the game and fit based on science and criteria of players,” he said.

NCCC was also staged last January 5-9 at the Trinity Christian School, featuring 30 coaches from across the province.

Carmona said these coaching courses will serve as requirement for the Asian Football Confederation “C” Coaching Course on April 16-29. (HGD)
