NEGRENSE champions take pride in Dubai tonight as Genesis “Azukal” Servania and “King” Arthur Villanueva carry the Philippine flag in ALA Promotions’ first overseas boxing campaign “Pinoy Pride 27: Duel in Dubai” at the Dubai International Convention Center.

The undefeated Servania (24-0, 10 KOs) of Barangay Punta Tay Tay in Bacolod City will be defending his title in the main event against former two-time world title challenger Jose “Matador” Cabrera (22-4, 10 KOs) of Mexico.

"Azukal," the reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) Inter-continental super bantamweight champion and WBO Asia Pacific’s Fighter of the Year, said that he has been working hard to make sure that he is ready for the fight.

Fighting in a foreign land seems not a problem for Servania.

“I don’t look at it as a problem because I have already fought in Macau and the Filipino crowd will be a great moral booster for me during the fight,” he said.

Servania described Cabrera as a tough boxer and he shouldn’t be belittled. “His record tells how good he is that’s why I’ve prepared well,” he added.

Another undefeated champion, Villanueva (25-0, 14KOs) of Bago City, holds the WBO International super flyweight belt and is set to challenge Nicaraguan Henry “El Crespo” Maldonado (18-3, 13KOs) for the International Boxing Federation (IBF) International junior bantamweight title.

He thanked his supporters and the training team led by Edmund Villamor, one of the multi-titled coaches at the Filipino's corner.

Seeing action in the supporting main event is Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista (35-3, 25KOs) against Mexican Juan Jose “Piquet” Martinez (19-1, 15KOs) in a non-title bout scheduled for 10 rounds.

Joining the Filipino boxers in Dubai are ALA gym coaches Edito Villamor and Michael Domingo.
