BASKETBALL Unified Sports (BUS) Group claimed the top spot and joined three other squads in the knockout semi-final round of Barangay Estafania basketball tournament Tuesday at the village’s covered court in Bacolod City.

The Huskies, backed by Condura and managed by Bing Soyao, finished with 7-2 win loss record and will meet number four Estefania Athletic Club (ESAC) "A" Team at 8 p.m.

At 6:30 p.m. is the other semi match between Celine Athletic Club (CAC) and ESAC "C." The winners will dispute the title on Thursday while the losers play for third.

BUS Group was beaten by CAC, 81-86 on opening day last July 1 but the Huskies went 7-0 after that starting with an emphatic 87-75 win over ESAC "A".

The Condura Boys, a mixture of above 40 and 50 players, followed up with an 89-70 crushing of Crusaders before wasting ESAC C" 86-65. A 96-64 demolition of Toy Truck, a win by default over Security Bank and a 99-88 triumph over ABS-CBN upped its standing going into the next phase.

Failing to field in the required eight players at the start of the game, the Huskies were declared in default against ESAC "B" on August 16, ending its campaign in a sour note.

A victory by ABS-CBN over Celine erased the possibility of a triple tie and BUSG wound up on top followed by CAC, ESAC "C" and ESAC "B" in the Top Four.

BUS Group expects to better its Sharp team's runner-up finish at Pueblo Rosario Homeowners Association summer league at Eroreco.
