CHRISTIAN Team Ministries' Pastor Renato Bravo, who is also with "Athletes in Action," was recently named Floorball Philippines president.

Former head Ryan Elizaga of University of the Philippines left for China, giving the post to Bravo, who has served as the association's vice president and coordinator for Visayas.

Other achievements of Bravo include his introduction of triathlon in Bacolod City in the late 1990's and serving as sports moderator of Trinity Christian School. He also served as consultant of the youth and sports of Escalante City.

Bravo, one of the pioneers of floorball in the country, said he will be taking the responsibility of promoting the sports and pushing it to have a national sports association.

Floorball will be one of the medal sports in the 2015 South East Asian Games in Singapore.

To further strengthen the sports event in the country, Bravo and some of his trainers representing the Philippines flew to Singapore to experience the World University Floorball Championships, the first World Cup for this event outside of Europe.

The national team, mostly from West Negros University, are preparing for the upcoming Malaysian 3V3 Floorball Challenge in Penang, Malaysia.

"In December, we are also looking forward to see action in the Association of South East Asian Floorball Championships," Bravo said.

"We also pray that the Philippine Olympic Committee and the Philippine Sports Commission will grant us accreditation to represent the Philippines in next year's SEA Games," he added.

Bravo spearheaded the 1st Western Visayas Floorball Seminar Workshop last November 2013 which introduced the sports to the public.

Schools or associations that want to avail floorball training may email or call (0920)8614432. (HGD)
